April Highlights
Holy Week is always a busy time at First Presbyterian Church but this year was exceptional. The Session would like to recognize all the volunteers who contributed to the normal Holy Week activities as well as the Funerals over the last few weeks. The Session has heard many positive comments about all the activities, and we know they require significant effort. Rev. Marcus Brooks gave positive feedback about the work of the FPC over the same period. Thank you to everyone.
The Finance Team reported that giving income remains ahead of budgeted levels. The Finance team will review the operating budget requests over the next month in preparation for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, which begins in July.
Session voted to approve the replacement of security cameras in the Covent Center and the Sanctuary and the addition of cameras in the North Vestibule and Room 101. The cost of the work is expected to be around $3500.
The Nominating Committee is beginning their work in preparation for the June 28th congregational meeting for the election of officers. If anyone has interest in serving as an Elder or a Deacon, please contact a member of the Nominating Team.
The Strategic Transition Team provided the Session with an interim evaluation report summarizing FPC's progress associated with the goals outlined in the Mission Study Team report. Based on a recommendation from the Strategic Transition Team, Session voted to create a team to evaluate the suitability of the Church Windows software package for database, communications, scheduling, and other non-accounting tasks and recommend an alternative solution if Church Windows is found unsuitable.
