Down the street or to the other side of the world, we strive to live into our stated vision of becoming the visible face of Christ to our neighbors in need.
We are a service-minded and mission-focused church. The Mission Team of the church is called to lead the congregation toward becoming the visible face of Christ in this community and throughout the world.
Second Saturday Mission Projects
Second Saturday projects are held every month to provide opportunities for members of First Presbyterian Church to share hands-on help with our neighbors. These projects have included preparing meals, delivering meals, painting, building homes, planting flowers, leading worship services, and more.
Support for Local Agencies
Our Mission Team evaluates and provides financial support to many social care agencies across Sioux Falls, such as the Food Pantry and St. Francis House. Each December, the team leads the Deacons’ Angel Tree and Food Basket project (see video above).
We actively seek out opportunities for our congregation to share God’s love with those outside our local community. Our Mission Team is always looking for ways to increase awareness and to support those who are interested in serving in missions.
We provide ongoing support to the Presbytery of Honduras through our partnership with them. We promote and support the annual Alternative Gift Market. One Great Hour of Sharing, Christmas Joy Gift, and Pentecost offerings are collected and continued support is provided to mission efforts of the greater church. The Mission Team also maintains liaison with our sister church, Tai-An Presbyterian, in Taiwan.
